Jason Smith

Directional/Teaching Elder

Jason Smith 2010Jason placed his faith in Jesus Christ when he was seven years old.  After several years of growing in his faith, he drifted away from God during his middle and high school years.  After being far from God, he was drawn closer after high school and chose to attend Southwest Baptist University.  It was during his time at SBU that Jason really came to understand who God was and what He wanted him to do with his life.  Jason graduated from SBU with a Bachelors in Psychology in May 1996.

It was also at SBU that Jason met his wife-to-be, Patty, during his final year.  After completing his bachelors, Jason went on to Dallas Theological Seminary where he received his Masters in Christian Education.  During this time, he served in several churches and parachurch organizations primarily working with middle and high school students.  Jason and Patty were married in October 1999 in Dallas, TX.  Shortly after their wedding, Jason and Patty moved to the Austin, TX area to work in Student Ministry as a part of the Association of Hill Country Bible Churches.  Jason served at the Georgetown, Northwest Austin, and Pflugerville churches over the next five and a half years.

Jason and Patty returned to the Dallas area where Jason served as Community Life and Family Life Pastor at Firewheel Bible Fellowship for 2 1/2 years.  It was during this time that Jason and Patty were blessed with their first child, Eliana Grace, in November 2007.   She will be attending the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Maryland beginning Fall 2010.

Jason accepted the position as Directional/Teaching Elder at Harvest Pointe in June 2008.   His desire is to see every man, woman, and child in Jefferson County experience the life changing power of Jesus Christ through the lips and lives of the people of Harvest Pointe Community Church.  Jason and Patty are expecting their second daughter, Anaiah Faith, this November 2010.
