The Gospel: Our foundation is the gospel – the good news that God is redeeming and reconciling a sinful people to himself through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This both reconciles us to God and helps us to grow in our relationship with Him. The gospel is also the reason we have the ability and desire to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves. It is because we come to know God and his gospel through the Bible that we devote ourselves to the faithful proclamation of God’s Word.

Christ-Centered Expositional Preaching: The aim of preaching is never to simply convey information, but to provide the means of spiritual and life transformation ordained by God. Ultimately, expository preaching aims to make the Bible useful as well as informative by directing the listener to “take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Cor 10:5). Therefore, biblical exposition binds the preacher and the people to the only source of genuine spiritual change in an effort to discover and convey the true meaning of the Word. The meaning of the passage is always the meaning of the sermon.

Christ-Centered Worship: The aim of all worship is to glorify the triune God of the Bible through the proper recognition and exaltation of Jesus Christ for his redemptive work on the cross. Christian worship, therefore, is always Christ-centered, exalting God’s glory through our thoughts, affections, and wills by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christ-Centered Community: We were not designed to live in isolation from one another. The Bible is clear: Christians are to love one another, pray for one another, serve one another, encourage one another, comfort one another, etc. However, these commands cannot be fulfilled in a single corporate worship gathering every week. As a result, Connection Groups are the primary way we encourage members of Harvest Pointe to fulfill these commands.

Christ-Centered Disciple Making: The gospel calls us to be a part of God’s mission. Therefore, every member of Harvest Pointe is encouraged and equipped to make disciples of all nations. Our missional efforts begin locally and extend globally. We recognize the nations are among us from our immediate neighbors to the refugee. Thus we will toil sacrificially for the good of our community and the world by engaging in deeds of mercy. Ultimately, we desire to play our part in God’s mission of redemption by planting churches from Charles Town to the ends of the earth.

Christ-Centered Family Ministry: The family is the normative and God designed means for the discipleship of children. Therefore, every Christian parent is responsible for the spiritual formation of his or her child. However, this does not absolve the church’s responsibility to partner with families in training up children to know and follow Christ. Therefore, the partners of HPCC—including married, singles, divorced, single-parent households, etc. - collectively join together in making disciples of all ages. As such, our aim is to intentionally align our practices as a church to strategically invest in the building of healthy, Christ-centered families. We aim to accomplish this through a variety of means, including but not limited to, family focused events and training, age and gender-appropriate programming, personal discipleship, and corporate worship.
