CURRENT SERIES: Acts-the church sent, scattered, and scorned...In August 2011, we unveiled our church-wide goal for this ministry year: That as disciples of Jesus Christ, we will strive to passionately serve in good deeds and share the good news so there is much joy in Jefferson County. In light of our goal, we are beginning a series in the book of Acts in order to get a look behind the curtains at the first externally focused church. Through this series, we will see the church sent into mission, scattered throughout the mission field, and scorned while on mission. This book we’ll be traveling through over the next six months was written by Luke, the author of the Gospel of Luke who was a traveling companion of the Apostle Paul, a doctor, historian, and educated teacher of the early church. Luke and Acts are so close, some have suggested that we keep them side by side and call them Luke-Acts to show their continuity. The gospels give us four different looks at the person and work of Jesus Christ, but we only have one description of the early Church, and it is this great book. This incredible book is not just a history of the Church; however, it is a powerful snapshot of various ways in which the Church focused externally so that people groups, families, towns and cities were radically changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Luke, shows us what an externally focused church looks like, what it would do, how it can be sought, and how we can be empowered to see the church return to this today.

So, what make TED different from the rest of us. Well, somewhere along the way he stumbled across some principles in this ancient book called the Bible that helped him figure out how to interact with other people in a healthy, mature way. What you find here is just an overview of what TED has learned, more to come in the future.Relationships are hard! We make relationships even harder than they need to be because of how we deal with the other human beings that live on this planet with us. We are selfish, jealous, mean, possessive, and all around immature in how we deal with each other. As a result, we tend to have very shallow, very distant relationships. This is not the case with my friend, TED. TED has exibits the qualities that make relationships work. He has a lot of friends and keeps them for a lifetime. Rarely does TED find himself in awkward situations at church functions, small group, or at the grocery store. He keeps short accounts in his relationship and generally is viewed as someone that most, if not all, would like to have as a friend. So, what make TED different from the rest of us.
