  • Scripture: Mark 1:1–1:15

This past spring we spent several weeks making our way through the book of Malachi.  What we found in that book is that God was not pleased with His chosen people because they had abandoned their faith in Him.  Instead of clinging to God and bringing glory to Him among the nations, they were diving headlong into the same deluded thinking and living as the world around them.  At the end of the book, we found a promise of a hope to come.  Then silence.  For over four hundred years, God did not speak again to His people.  Things did not get better in this time; instead they went from bad to worse.   The people did not respond to the call of the prophet for the people to return to the LORD, so God being true to His Word abandoned them to their ways until He would fulfill His promise that is found in Malachi 3:1, "Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts.”   Today as we pick up the series that we started last week in the gospel of Mark, called Jesus in 3D, we see this promised made become a promise kept.
