T4TH

God is calling us to reach an ever-changing community with a never-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. He has put an urgency in the hearts of the elders of this church regarding the advancement of His Mission both in our area and around the world. In order to do that, we must see the coming opportunity and position ourselves to take advantage of it. Several years ago, the leadership of Harvest Pointe Community Church began praying and searching for a more permanent place for the members of our church to be equipped and encouraged in fulfilling their mission to make disciples in our community. Last fall, the Lord answered our prayers, enabling us to purchase 17.4 acres of property along Highway 51 between Charles Town and Inwood.

Now we are launching into a God-sized task. It is perhaps the most ambitious task God will call us to attempt in our lifetimes. We are conducting a capital campaign to raise the necessary funds to construct our first facility on that property. We’ve given this campaign a fairly simple and straightforward theme – Together for the Harvest – because this is not ultimately about dollars and cents or bricks and mortar. This is ultimately about fulfilling our mission and vision of making disciples by loving God and loving our neighbors. Together for the Harvest is about people. We at find our charge for this campaign from Jesus in John 4:35-37: Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together.” (ESV) We see literally hundreds of young families with children moving to this area, a high percentage of them unchurched or chronically dechurched. Truly, we can lift our eyes to see that the fields are white for harvest. We have to get ready to reach those families and those children. At Harvest Pointe have been called TOGETHER to be a community of believers united in Jesus Christ for the purpose of being workers in His HARVEST by making disciples in Jefferson County and beyond. We believe that now is the time to reap the harvest in the lives of those that God has been preparing in advance for us to serve and to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

It has been exciting to see this mission and vision fulfilled in the lives of so many people already, and we believe that this next step will enable us to influence even more people for the kingdom of God. It is my prayer that God would grip each of us with the desire to see more lives changed for His glory and that He would move each of us to do our part to help make that possible. I urge you to read carefully the materials that you will receive during Together for the Harvest; to review the information on the website (click the links to the right); to listen intently to the testimonies and messages (campaign launch is Sunday, October 3, 2010); and to pray passionately asking the Lord to show you how you can be involved in preparing for the Harvest that God has for us by making an investment in the future of Harvest Pointe Community Church.
